Welcome to the 2022

Sunset Ladies Golf League

Season

15 Weeks of League, May 3rd –   August 23rd
No League on June 14th or July 5th

End of Year Banquet– TBD

May 3rd, the first week of league will be a team scramble format.

Golf Handicaps and Score Posting:

We will be using Golf Genius software for league and event management. Please download the Golf Genius app. If you are a new league member and did not already have a GHIN handicap, you have been issued one.  You will want to post 3- 18 hole scores or six 9 hole rounds prior to league starting to ensure you have a starting handicap.  If you played in league last year, your handicaps will be carried over so you do not have to do anything.

Please note that you DO NOT have to post your league scores as we will do that for you.  However, you will want to make sure you post all scores that you play outside of league.

Format: Tee Times– Due to the numbers of the league we will be teeing off every 10 minutes on both the front and the back, alternating sides every week from 3:50 pm– 6:10 pm. Please be on time for your tee time and keep pace with the group ahead of you.  If a team member is late, we will take her out to meet your group.  This season will be a mix of team and individual weekly games.

Weekly Games-

1) Each week there will be either a team game or individual game.

2) Weekly Flighted Low Net and Low Gross winners

Season Long Events (All Individual)

  1. Individual Ringer Tournament (Gross & Net)- The Ringer Tournament is a season-long event, where players record their best score on each hole. Your ringer score will be your best score on each hole throughout the season.

  1. Best 7 scores Season Long Individual Stableford points-
4 Points for Net Eagle or better, 3 Points Net Birdie, 2 Points Net Par, 1 point for net bogey.  At the end of your season your TOP 7 point totals will be added together to determine the season long champion.

Subs:  If you have a sub, we will use a blind draw for that score. Please write the full name of the sub on the scorecard.  Subs will count towards the team game but are not eligible for weekly event prizes.

Scorecards: Pick up scorecard in the golf shop and it will have a GGID on it to enter in the mobile app.  This GGID will change each week.  You can either enter your scores on the mobile app or turn in your paper score card.

All scores need to be entered in the app or paper card turned in before you leave.

Rain Outs: No emails will be sent when league is rained out.  All league updates and results can be found on the league portal..  Please check our website for information regarding league cancellations.  A decision will be made by 2:30 pm.  If you are on the golf course and lighting in the area, a horn will be sounded and you must come off the golf course.  All rain outs will be made up adding extra weeks to the end of league.

Maximum Score of Net Double Bogey: This year we will be implementing a maximum score of net double bogey.  Net Double Bogey is adding 2 strokes to the Par for the hole, then adding how many handicap strokes you receive.  Example on a Par 3, a Double Bogey is 5 and if you have 2 dots on your card, the max score is 7.

If a player does not hole out on or before their net double bogey, please pick up and record net double bogey on scorecard.  If you have 2 handicap strokes on hole 1 which is a par 5

Pace of Play: For the enjoyment of everyone in the league please be aware that the pace of play for league is 2 hours and 5 minutes for your league round. Please keep the following in mind- Your place should be directly behind the group ahead of you, not directly in front of the group behind you.

Here are some recommended tips for speeding up your pace of play.

· Be on the “Go” when it is your turn.  Play ready golf.

· Keep your cell phone use to a minimum.

· Track shots of everyone in your group so you do not waste time looking for them.

· Record your scores at the next tee, not on the green or near the green.

USGA rules will govern play.

Out of Bounds/Lost Ball:  If you can’t find your ball within 3 minutes of searching, you may drop a ball in the general area in which you and your playing partners agree that it is with a 2 stroke penalty (instead of going back to the tee/previous shot) and you may drop your ball in the fairway equal to where you think it was lost. See this video for more information, https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/rules-modernization/major-changes/golfs-new-rules-stroke-and-distance.html

Other rule changes include:

1. The golf flagstick no longer has to be attended, and there are no penalties incurred if a golfer hits the ball into the hole while the flagstick is standing.

2. If you have to drop a ball, you now do so from knee height rather than shoulder height.

3. You are now allowed only three minutes, instead of the previous five to find a lost ball. To speed up play, players may drop a ball in the vicinity of where it was lost or went out of bounds- See local rule above.

4. Golfers in the bunker and hazards are allowed to remove loose impediments, rocks, sticks, etc.
Must do so without ball to move.

5. Golfers are now permitted to repair spike marks on putting greens prior to putting.

6. Golfers shall play quickly, with a recommended 40-seconds established to play your stroke.

7. No penalty occurs for accidentally striking your golf bag or your caddy post stroke.

8. If you accidentally move your ball while searching for it, you can replace it where it was, and incur no penalty.

The penalty for a double hit is removed. Golfers simply count the one stroke they made to hit the ball.

All in all, the USGA changed 20 total rules this year, all designed to encourage more seamless play when on the golf course.  So please visit the USGA website for a complete list of new rules.

Prizes: Each week there will be a different game and depending on if it’s a team or individual game it will determine the amount of the payout.  All prize money will be posted on the website and posted on your account in the golf shop.  All prize money will be awarded as golf shop merchandise credits.  No special orders.  Please ask a member of the golf staff for your balance.  All prize money must be redeemed by September 30, 2022.
